Horse Racing: Today at Los Alamitos, Sept. 5

Post Time 2 p.m.

Race 1 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $12,000, Claiming $6,250, 3-year-olds and up

3 Single Launch – Claimed out of a sharp win by Keith Craigmyle; since win was for $4K, he remains eligible for this condition.

6 Twoatten Tenattwo – Claimed by Vince Smith for a paltry $2,500; second start off a 2-year hiatus, doesn’t face much in here.

Long Shot – 7 Youonlyliveonce

Race 2 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Tasha’s Courage – Has a million tries at $20K, but none came at Los Alamitos; this is the slowest group he’s ever faced.

10 Enlisted Man – Parking lot post but this is the lowest class level he’s ever ran; using bugboy Drayden Van Dyke is stealing 5 pounds.

Long Shot – 7 Juliet’s Tizzy

Race 3 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds

8 One More Roll – Another contender with a parking lot post; the key is remember this track has the longest stretch run in racing.

4 McSwiss – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; wisely skipped Del Mar for this spot.

Long Shot – 1 Ligety

Race 4 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

3 Dream Police – His debut race at Los Alamitos was pretty good; if he repeats that he’s got a puncher’s chance with these.

1 Dynamite Ride – FTS from Peter Miller; suspect he didn’t use up all the bullets at Del Mar.

Long Shot – 5 Bronze Star

Race 5 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds

3 Tatum’s Gold – Gave a good account of herself in two races at Del Mar; this is clearly an easier ground in Orange County.

6 City Ride – Ran for a $50K price tag in last; key for me was the race was at Del Mar, this is a much softer bunch tonight.

Long Shot – 7 Really a Princess

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

2 Cherubim – Philip D’Amato had a fine Del Mar meet; suspect he’s got some horse that will fit this condition book too.

3 Regally Soul – He won three races ago at Los Alamitos in a O/C $25K level; this is slightly tougher, but he clearly fits with these.

Long Shot – 8 Cuzan

Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, $75,000 E. B. Johnston, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds

1 Patriots Rule – Has not run a poor race yet for Robertino Diodoro; the long stretch run will help his deep closing style.

5 Solid Wager – Makes his Orange County debut; was crushed by Patriot’s Rule two races ago in the Real Good Deal.

Long Shot – 3 Eddie’s First

Race 8 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000,m 3-year-olds and up

6 Radiant Dancer – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; there a million maiden claiming races today.

5 Triunfo – Getting long in the tooth in 9 starts, but 5 have finished in the money; ran twice at Los Alamitos, both thirds.

Long Shot – 11 Persisting

Best Bet – 1 Patriots Rule (race 7)

Del Mar Wednesday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/4/$27.80; Long Shots, 10/1/$12.40; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.20

Del Mar Final Totals – 614/140/$949.20; Long Shots, 305/33/$373.20; Best Bets, 33/11/$52.60

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #3 Pass the Dice (12/1) in race 3 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Wednesday, Virginia Colony ran out at Presque Isle Downs. Stats – 138/82/$785.30; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
