Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, February 25

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds

3 Justonemorething – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; tactical speed to sit a nice trip throughout.

2 One More Roll – Gets needed class relief after being crushed twice in a row; this is clearly a much easier spot.

Long Shot – 1 Poison Pulpit

Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $35,000, Claiming $32,000, 4-year-olds and up

5 Thesheetsguy – Appeared overmatched in last; Doug O’Neill drops him in class and cuts him back in distance, Rafael Bejarano stays on too.

1 I Don’t Care Who – The last time he ran for this reduced price tag, he won; slow meet for Jeff Mullins but he could pick up any day now.

Long Shot – 2 Ice Cream Truck

Race 3 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

6 Colonel Joan – Her turf resume is much better than her dirt and synthetic form; will sit in arrears and make one run.

3 Elektrum – Good looking U.S. debut in last for this John Sadler charge; like the way Mike Smith is riding, in top form.

Long Shot – 1 Hijra

Race 4 – 1 mile, Purse $27,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

3 Kyankes – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much under Rafael Bejarano to win.

5 I Heart You – Ran a solid second last time out; the key for me is she has run faster speed figures while facing classier foes.

Long Shot – 2 Valentine’s Reward

Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares

8 Taylor Lane – The parking lot post is a positive down the hillside turf course; has tactical speed, an asset with the rail out 24 feet.

3 See Through – Has shown some liking for the hillside turf course; dead late closer will need a lot of dueling on the front end.

Long Shot – 2 Kristinite

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 4-year-olds and up

6 My Jealous – I like rooting for Iggy Puglisi when he is on a live mount; expect this one to be sent hard for the lead.

3 Dress Code – When horses like this hit the bottom, either they win or they end up somewhere else; could be ready for Phoenix soon.

Long Shot – 5 Qatar’s Pearl

Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

6 Fantastic Style – Well bred filly takes the next step after her MSW win; be interesting to see how far up the class ladder she will go.

7 Majestic Presence – Jerry Hollendorfer likes nothing better than to pull Bob Baffert’s chain; will try to upset the short priced chalk.

Long Shot – 1 Long Hot Summer

Race 8 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds

8 Price of Glory – Of the ones with experience, he looks like the one who can run a little; be very wary of the many FTS in here.

5 Grandson At Last – Leap of faith that top speed rider Tyler Baze will break this FTS on top; your guess is as good as mine in here.

Long Shot – 1 Zazzaro

Best Bet – 8 Taylor Lane (race 5)

Santa Anita Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 14/4/$20.60; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Santa Anita Totals – 590/157/$1,006.40; Long Shots, 299/42/$407.60; Best Bets, 36/15/$67.20

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #10 Quiet Hour (4/1) in race 10 at Gulfstream Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Bold Conquest ran out at Oaklawn Park. Stats – 30/21/$129.10; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
