Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, June 4

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 7 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

6 Hide My Heart – Sliding down the caliming ladder to this career low level; will be dangerous in a catch me if you can spot.

1 Warren’s Dixi Bell – Rafael Bejarano always manages to carve out a nice trip regardless of the post; tactical speed to sit a trip.

Long Shot – 5 Grammy Times Six

Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

2 Old Man Lake – Runs protected again after being claimed two races ago; chance to rebound off of an even effort.

1 Missing Groom – Switch to the hot riding Flavien Prat; he always seems to win when I need him least.

Long Shot – 6 Storm Comin Thru

Race 3 – 1 1/8th miles, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up

5 Antinanco – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; hoping the class relief will lead to better results.

2 Pefiolo – Tepid morning line chalk did everything but win last time out; similar effort will make him the one to beat.

Long Shot – 7 Chester B

Race 4 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $35,000, Maiden claiming $75,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Gravity Force – Rafael Bejarano has been riding first call for Richard Baltas; Baltas barn is hot so the tandem is en fuego.

7 Curly Road – Off the turf angle; his better race have come on dirt, in fact his race two back is fairly quick for this group.

Long Shot – 1 Popsracer

Race 5 – 5 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

1 Wildcat Kelli – If things go well for Rafael Bejarano, he’s going to win a few races today; FTS from the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer.

3 Mint Julep Taffy – Turf Paradise homey ran well in career debut at Santa Anita; won’t be as much of surprise this time around.

Long Shot – 6 Miss Gridley

Race 6 – 7 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 Ivana Beat Yabad – I don’t usually pick horses that just graduated; she broke thru with a big speed figure so something good happened.

6 Kiss At Midnight – Do not mind the parking lot post in an elongated sprint; figures to pick a spot well before the far turn.

Long Shot – 2 Zuzu’s Petals

Race 7 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

8 Jules Journey – Been a stride late in each of his last three starts; will need to carve out a trip from a parking lot post.

1 Footstepsinbronze – Chance to save every inch of ground from the rail; I like the rail post in 2-turn miles on dirt or turf.

Long Shot – 4 Bench Light

Race 8 – 1 mile, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Chicago Angel – Finally showed what she is capable of last time out; she has back speed figures fast enough to upset these.

9 Ipray – Tiago Pereira has done some successful riding for the Philip D’Amato barn; he has been one of his go to riders.

Long Shot – 6 Christianas Mirage

Best Bet – 6 Hide My Heart (race 1)

Santa Anita Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 17/6/$27.60; Long Shots, 9/2/$10.80; Best Bet, 1/1/$4.60
