The Tigers are peaking at the right time, sweeping the New York Yankees after eliminating Oakland, and their pitching is set up to win the World Series. Justin Verlander, a big favorite in the opener, is followed in a dominant rotation by Doug Fister, Anibal Sanchez and Max Scherzer. Detroit’s pitching should overpower a Giants team that needed seven games to survive against the St. Louis Cardinals.
