Calvary Chapel romps to baseball victory
Dominic Pangallo went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and seven RBIs to lead Calvary Chapel’s baseball team to a 23-3 win over Pahranagat Valley on Friday in the Class 1A Southern Region tournament at Mountain View High School.
• Mountain View 6, Lake Mead 5 — At Mountain View, Craig Sacra went 2-for-4 with a double and struck out 10 for the Saints.
• Pahranagat Valley 26, Mountain View 11 — At Mountain View, Kyle Turley was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for the Panthers.
• Virgin Valley 10, Pahrump Valley 7 — At Boulder City, Ty Tate’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 7-7 tie and lifted Virgin Valley into the title game of the Class 3A Southern League tournament.
• Boulder City 5, Pahrump Valley 4 — At Boulder City, pitcher Adam Eudy scored on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the sixth to break a 4-4 tie.
• Boulder City 8, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Boulder City, River Frantz went 3-for-4 with a double for the Eagles.
SOFTBALL
• Pahrump Valley 2, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Boulder City, Casey Sheller scored the tie-breaking run on a Chelsea Cockrell base hit in the second inning, and the Trojans held on to win the Class 3A Southern League winners bracket final.
• Faith Lutheran 6, Boulder City 0 — At Boulder City, Kellie Kersey pitched a two-hitter and went 2-for-4 for the Crusaders.
• Boulder City 13, Virgin Valley 5 — At Boulder City, Paxton Fleming and Tara McKeever combined for five hits and five RBIs for the Eagles.
• Pahranagat Valley 6, Mountain View 5 — At Mountain View, Jessi Channing and Chane Channing each had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Panthers captured the winners bracket final in the Class 1A Southern Region tournament.
