Kentucky DE jailed on rape charge, suspended from team

Kentucky freshman defensive end Lloyd Tubman was suspended from the team after his arrest by Lexington/Fayette County police on a first-degree rape charge, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
In an statement earlier in the day, coach Mark Stoops said Tubman was suspended from all team activities without giving a reason.
The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that Tubman remains incarcerated in the Fayette County Detention Center. He is listed as a current inmate with his offense designated as “rape 1st.”
Kentucky.com reported that Tubman is accused of sexually assaulting a female student last Thursday morning in a residence hall.
“Obviously, I’m very concerned about the allegations and all parties involved,” Stoops said. “We’re working extremely hard to develop quality young men on and off the field. We will continue to cooperate with the local and campus authorities while the process takes its course.”
Tubman faces additional disciplinary action under the terms of the school’s Code of Student Conduct.
The highly recruited freshman from Louisville has no tackles in five games this season for the Wildcats.
