Fourth-inning slam lifts Tacoma past 51s

Mike Wilson hit a grand slam, and David Pauley pitched eight effective innings for Tacoma in the Rainiers’ 5-2 win over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday night in Tacoma, Wash.

Wilson’s big hit came on the first pitch of his fourth-inning at-bat against Brad Mills (4-4) after two walks and a one-out single by Mike Carp loaded the bases.

Pauley (1-3) held Las Vegas (23-34) to two runs on five hits and one walk and struck out seven as the Rainiers (28-25) won for the seventh time in eight games.

J.P. Arencibia went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double for the 51s. Mills gave up five runs on six hits in seven innings.
