Gordon’s 13 points, 14 rebounds lead struggling Lobos past Rams

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Drew Gordon had 13 points and 14 rebounds, and New Mexico clamped down defensively Wednesday night to defeat Colorado State, 85-52.

Gordon, who posted his 11th game with double figures in points and rebounds, also contributed three assists, three blocks and two steals to help the Lobos (16-4, 2-2 MWC) recover from losses to conference rivals No. 13 San Diego State and No. 12 UNLV.

Will Bell, Wes Elkmeier and Dorian Green each scored 11 points for the Rams (13-6, 2-2).

New Mexico, which never trailed, shot 19 for 33 in the first half in building a 47-29 lead.

■ Texas Christian 59, Air Force 56 — At Fort Worth, Texas, Valley High product Hank Thorns scored 22 points and the Horned Frogs beat the Falcons.

J.R. Cadot added 13 points for TCU (12-7, 2-2 MWC). He was 7 for 7 from the free-throw line and also led the Horned Frogs in rebounds with seven.

Taylor Broekhuis led the Falcons (11-7, 1-3) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Mike Fitzgerald scored 14 points and Todd Fletcher 12 for Air Force.
