Gotmymojoworkin – Big rider switch off a win from Victor Espinoza to J.M. Contreras; winning is still 90 percent horse.
Wagels – Ran better than looked in last off the claim by Matt Chew; big class drop can only help his chances.
Long Shot – Smooth and Savvy
Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds
Daylight Storm – Any horse off the claim by the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer must be respected; like Rafael Bejarano up.
Ukandoit – Has good tactical speed where he can sit a perfect trip; does not need the lead to succeed.
Long Shot – Streakin’ Mohican
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Serene Sophia – Half-sister to Brother Derek has every right to be a nice filly; trained by Bob Baffert, cost $325K.
Giveme Onereason – Trouble trip in last or could have been a lot closer; fastest among those with experience.
Long Shot – Ms Treasure Hunter
Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 14 feet), Purse $44,000, Claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
Kris Silver – Tepid favorite in one very difficult heat; tactical speed to sit a trip, turf rail is out 14 feet.
Big Wig – Dead late closer was claimed in last by Doug O’Neill; despite the negative press, his barn remains hot.
Long Shot – Knockout Artist
Race 5 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Lucky Sis – Grinder from the man in the headlines, Doug O’Neill; will be passing cheap speed in the stretch run.
Leslie Rules – Tepid chalk in a real bad looking race; speedball may be tough to catch in a no passing zone field.
Long Shot – The Zapana
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Spanish Ice – Been away 16 months, but has a lot of back class on her resume; Craig Dollase can get them ready.
Kaylie’s Joy – Tepid chalk in another wide-open affair; has good early speed, but others figure to chase.
Long Shot – Frequent Fame
Race 7 – 1 3/8th miles (turf, rail at 14 feet), Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
Falcon Rock – Simon Callaghan adds blinkers on for this; like that Corey Nakatani replaces the injured Joe Talamo.
Dynamic Range – Exits the much tougher Sunset for today’s $40K price tag; Mike Mitchell is not afraid to lose him.
Long Shot – Tripitaka
Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 2-year-olds
Swiss Tart – Gets a positive post shift from 11 to 4; beaten favorite figures to sit midpack and grind it out late.
Liquid Asset – Speedball tactics will be aided with blinkers on; expect Victor Espinoza to send and play catch me if you can.
