HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 7 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

He Did – Odd field in that 7-of-8 graduated last out; offers 8/1 value in a wide open race, low percentage connections.

Full On – Tepid chalk where anyone could repeat or move forward; could be a tactical race as much as anything.

Long Shot – Wagels

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Hannah’s Moment – Got outfinished last time after being well placed; in a field this slow, she runs consistent figures.

Brilliant Response – Chalk disappointed off a 9-month hiatus; she faced much better at Del Mar, is likely to improve.

Long Shot – Youknowwhatilike

Race 3 – 7 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Mona de Momma – Good debut in fast time for John Sadler; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano signals at least the intent.

Spun Silver – Was flattered when the filly who beat her won right back again; she figures to be the speed and will be tighter.

Long Shot – Bread ‘n Water

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, $70,000 Desert Stormer Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Indian Blessing – What is she doing in here?; she should be able to run backwards and beat these, beware of a public workout.

Coco Belle – She is fast and game and loves it in Inglewood; will enjoy the shorter distance, square price at 5/1 odds.

Long Shot – Foxy Danseur

Race 5 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $30,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds and up

Carman – He is long overdue to win one of these turf sprints; saves all the ground inside like last time out.

Jungle Prince – Logical chalk get big class relief from stakes for this price tag; even at 8-YO, he figures to get claimed.

Long Shot – Trail Mix

Race 6 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $14,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up

Just Charmed – Sprinter stretching out and Sean McCarthy adding blinkers on too; loose on the lead is always effective strategy.

Big Wave Rider – He’s got enough speed to sit close to the early pace; Rafael Bejarano rides all chalk, strictly the one to beat.

Long Shot – Street Royale

Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Susan’s Wildcat – Stretches out around 2-turns for the first time; the internal fractions will be much slower, maybe to her liking.

Dreamalong – Logical chalk just refuses to win; she always seems to find trouble at the worst time, hard to keep out of exotics.

Long Shot – Good Time Sally

Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

Guns On the Table – Has been butting heads with good ones, Bob Baffert now takes the blinkers off; sitting on a big try.

Dehere Again – Ran huge in U.S. debut in the Los Angeles; fear here is he may bounce second time out, instead of move forward.

Long Shot – Devoted Magic

Race 9 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $48,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Mama Knows Best – You are sure to get full value as no one bets Kayla Stra; remember the horse is 90 percent and this one is sharp.

Unusual Spirit – Tepid chalk in a wide open scrum; he’s stakes tested so this spot is much easier for her, part of the number.

Long Shot – Sunny Peace

Race 10 – 7 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Crazy Tricia – From the hottest barn in SoCal right now, Doug O’Neill; like the turn back in distance to powder them late.

Fine Time to Leave – Dead late closer figures to sit closer to the pace tonight; hard to question how well Rosario is riding.

Long Shot – Spirited Lady

Best Bet – Mona de Momma (race 3)

Hollywood Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/6/$42.80; Long Shots, 10/1/$5.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Totals – 562/140/$993.60; Long Shots, 284/46/$506.40; Best Bets, 31/10/$39.40

SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY – #7 Here Comes Ben (2/1) in race 2 at Churchill Downs. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, I’ve Got Speed scratched at Belmont Park. Stats – 84/66/$485.20
