TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $30,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

My Maloof Rocker – She’s the most proven performer on turf; figures to get a nice trip in this compact field.

Ditto This – Broke her MSW on turf two back and ran better than looked in last; should be charging fast late.

Long Shot – Savannah Peach

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 2-year-olds

Let’spickupthepace – Speedy sort turns back in distance for this; tactical speed to be forwardly placed throughout.

Tahoe Kid – Finished right behind Let’spickupthepace in last, so he must be respected; should finish well.

Long Shot – Ubetimfast

Race 3 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $38,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Onebadkitty – Love everything about her except the parking lot post; there’s just 6 in here so Talamo should be OK.

Burna Dette – Battled late with the favorite last time so she is a serious threat; will be grinding hard late.

Long Shot – Suziqcutie

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $36,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

Position A – Outran his high odds in debut when a solid second for Richard Mandella; poised for victory.

Benezit – Closed well, but too late, in debut; note that Garrett Gomez rode for a low percentage trainer.

Long Shot – Tevez the Tiger

Race 5 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $27,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds and up

Dadsalittleunusual – Ran out of steam in last marathon distance; shortens up today, should close much stronger.

Lightning Hit – Ran well last time for Chantal Sutherland while facing tougher; she’ll sit and make on run.

Long Shot – Fight On

Race 6 – 1 1/8th miles, $100,000 Native Diver Handicap, 3-year-olds and up

Spring House – Draw a line thru the BC Turf debacle and he’s a major player; will see a perfect race shape.

Past the Point – Has come to hand for Eoin Harty; major hurdle is this route is jam packed with early speed.

Long Shot – Racketeer

Race 7 – 6 furlongs, Purse $38,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up

A Lil Dumaani – Has kept improving from modest beginnings; tactical speed to sit a nice trip for Michael Baze.

Futuro – Looked like a completely different horse in last off a 7-month hiatus; has every right to be good.

Long Shot – Wild Diplomat

Race 8 – 1 1/2 miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), $250,000 Hollywood Turf Cup, 3-year-olds and up

Champs Elysees – Has faced tougher fields than this all year despite the grade 1 status; Julien Leparoux rides.

Winchester – Ran poorly in the BC Turf after a sensational win in the Secretariat; may have needed the race.

Long Shot – Black Mamba

Race 9 – 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $12,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Devive – Did everything but win last time; away 5-months, he turns back in distance for an elongated sprint.

Squire Trelawny – Leap of faith that Bejarano riding in a cheap finale means something; grinding late.

Long Shot – Mystification

Best Bet – My Maloof Rocker (race 1)

Hollywood Friday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/6/$35.20; Long Shots, 8/1/$6.80; Best Bet, 1/1/$4.20
