TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK

Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $28,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
Stand Tall – None of these have won on turf before, so it’s the blind leading the blind; Canani throws John a bone.
South Coast – Won’t be shocked if this Marty Jones 5-YO wakes up on the grass; looks like he’ll like a 2-turn race.
Long Shot – Oh I Tripped
Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Zada Belle – There are 2/5 favorites, and then there are 2/5 favorites; this filly hasn’t raced in 17-months, your move.
Iron Butterfly – Remember the big hit by Iron Butterfly in the late 1960s, In-a-gadda-da-vida; been away 11-months.
Long Shot – Mood Winner
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Beau Chant – May have been done in by parking lot post 12 last time out; moves inside and faces another soft bunch.
Newport Lulu – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Sherman is having an awful meet.
Long Shot – Small But Mighty
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds
Scott’s Poppy – Been away 5-months since a pair of fall races; Mitchell barn has been having a tremendous meeting.
High Intellect – Suspicious class drop, still a modest effort is enough to compete; bugboy Campos has shown some ability.
Long Shot – Perfectly Sane
Race 5 – 7 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Allowance, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Stately Appeal – Sure to be overlooked because of her multiple maiden claiming tries; strong closer could menace late.
Sweet August Moon – Was not overmatched when third in the La Habra; has tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.
Long Shot – Homemade Lovin’
Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Ourfavoriteone – Taking a big class drop off a sequence of nondescript races; note the bullet works, turn back in distance.
Proud of My Curls – Tepid chalk was claimed by a low percentage barn; she’s the one to beat, but it’s worth trying.
Long Shot – Kachina Dream
Race 7 – 1 1/4 miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $61,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up
Add Heat – Ran very well in the Sunshine Millions Turf; faces no such monsters today, repeat effort should win it.
Rather Be Lucky – Logical move up in class off a nice win; saves all the ground inside for David Flores.
Long Shot – Caribbean
Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Warren’s Sillycat – Just missed last time in a blanket finish; Gomez remains loyal and sticks for the finale.
Amybelle – Big class drop gives her a big chance with these; like the turn back in distance from routes to this.
Long Shot – Song of Illinois
Best Bet – Add Heat (race 7)
