HORSE RACING

TODAY AT DEL MAR

By Richard Eng

Post Time 2 p.m.

Race 1 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Cry and Catch Me – A racing axiom is you’re judged by the company you keep; she ran second to stakes winner Tasha’s Miracle.

Show the Light – Leap of faith following the movement of Nakatani; he exits client O’Neill to ride a FTS from the Harty barn.

Long Shot – Little Bug

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $59,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Time Tosay Goodbye – Top jockey Baze keeps getting short priced horses to ride; can sit a cozy trip from a parking lot post.

Intangaroo – Bounced to the moon off a fast MSW debut win; was going a 2-turn mile, should like today’s turnback in distance.

Long Shot – Cotton Bay

Race 3 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 14 feet), Purse $63,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds

T’aint War Sir – By War Chant, a top turf sire, this colt still has a solid upside; not seen since the opening day Oceanside.

Justinplace – Good tactical speed should come in handy because the turf rail is out 14 feet; that usually aides the speed.

Long Shot – Shem

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $33,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds

Dunmore – Becerra off the claim has been an under the radar, high percentage winning angle; like that Nakatani has signed on.

Gotta Getcha – Overmatched in last classwise and trying turf for the first time; blinkers on, returning to his comfort zone.

Long Shot – Breakfastatbully’s

Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $29,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Appealing Sweets – Tiny edge in a difficult race to decipher; she has enough back class where she can run another good one.

Flower Fusion – Has speed and is exiting some fast works over Cushion track up at Hollywood; could see her mix it up early.

Long Shot – Omi’s Back

Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

P.S.U. Grad – Expensive 2-YO in training purchase is debuting for a top baby barn; you have an edge of seeing the tote board.

Czechers – Another costly FTS from the underrated Glatt barn; has tossed a couple of very good workouts, wide post can help.

Long Shot – Good Time Sally

Race 7 – 1 3/8th miles (turf, rail at 14 feet), $250,000 Del Mar Handicap, 3-year-olds and up

After Market – He would have won the Arlington Million despite the give in the ground; the Del Mar course will be very firm.

Obrigado – Dangerous foe considering he’s butted heads with grade 1 and 2 animals on his resume; upset chance on his best.

Long Shot – Atlando

Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up

Court’s in Session – This is strictly a Koriner pick, who has been sneaky good this meet; exits stakes for a claiming tag.

Nerinx – Another tough race in the pick 4 and pick 6; claimed by Sherman off a monster win, key is if the win was too big.

Long Shot – Yes He’s a Pistol

Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds

Easter Born – Got a nice education in debut for McAnally, ran slow early, quickened late; expect improvement in second start.

Cavanaugh – Improved a lot of his second career start for Jones; interesting switch to bugboy Quinonez to get the weight off.

Long Shot – Warrens Flyin High

Best Bet – After Market (race 7)

Del Mar Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/7/$42.60; Long Shots, 10/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$5.20

Del Mar Totals – 548/134/$958.40; Long Shots, 277/35/$458.40; Best Bets, 33/15/$64.80
