Jameis Winston accuser files lawsuit seeking financial damages

TAMPA, Fla. — College football star Jameis Winston was sued on Thursday in Florida court by a woman who has accused him of raping her in 2012 while she was a student at Florida State University.

The lawsuit seeks financial damages and to hold accountable the quarterback, according to the woman’s attorney, John Clune. Winston is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Winston was cleared in December by a Florida state attorney of possible sexual assault charges after authorities determined there was insufficient evidence to charge him.
