Laswell leads Lions to victory

Desiree Laswell threw a three-hitter Monday, striking out seven, to lead Sierra Vista to a 9-2 home win over Spring Valley.

Laswell also had three hits, including a double.

Holly O’Hara added a double and three RBIs for the Lions, who had five extra-base hits.

Clark 2, Durango 0 — At Clark, Jordyn McDonald tossed a one-hitter to lead the Chargers past the Trailblazers.

McDonald struck out five and allowed only a first-inning single.

McDonald was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Anna Jaehn added a double and an RBI for Clark.

Bonanza 4, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Bonanza, Sam Snyder pitched a two-hitter and struck out six to lift the Bengals over the Gaels.

Emily Osborn went 2-for-3, and Aimee Doyle added a two-run single for Bonanza.

Rancho 8, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Jesslyn Bley tossed a one-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a homer, three runs scored and three RBIs as the Rams blanked the Pioneers.

Saige Diller went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Rancho.

Valley 22, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, McKayla Romero tossed a three-hitter and hit two doubles as the Vikings routed the Cowboys.

Romero gave up three singles in five innings to get the win. Six of Valley’s 10 hits were doubles.

Eldorado 11, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Shelby West threw a five-hitter as the Sundevils beat the Jaguars.

Gaby Trillo had two doubles and a single for Eldorado. Megan Robbins tripled twice for Desert Pines.

BASEBALL

Valley 3, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Larry Valdes threw a two-hitter and went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Vikings over the Cowboys.

Valdes struck out 10 and walked three. Eric Herring’s RBI single in the fourth inning broke a scoreless tie.

Miguel Michelangeli was 2-for-3 for Valley.

Sierra Vista 6, Spring Valley 5 — At Sierra Vista, Scotty Tomassetti’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the Lions over the Grizzlies.

Tomassetti drove in three runs for Sierra Vista, which overcame a 5-3 deficit.

Kiel Harmon picked up the win in relief, and Andrew Garcia earned the save.

Canyon Springs 3, Rancho 2 — At Canyon Springs, James McKoy threw a six-hitter and went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Pioneers past the Rams.

Rancho pulled within 3-2 in the sixth inning before having a runner called out in a run-down. The Rams played the game under protest after the runner was called out.

Rancho’s Kevin Kline was 2-for-3.

Eldorado 13, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Jared Hoven drove in four runs, including a three-run triple as part of a six-run first inning for the Sundevils.

Alan Guerrero added a three-run triple in Eldorado’s six-run third.

Eric Larsen earned the win, striking out 10 in five innings.

Bishop Gorman 13, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, John Rickard and Paul Sewald each drove in three runs as the Gaels beat the Bengals in six innings.

Jeff Malm had three hits, including a double, for Gorman, which had seven extra-base hits.

Donn Roach scattered four singles in six innings to get the win.

Green Valley 3, Palo Verde 1 — At Green Valley, Joe Robinson tossed a three-hitter and struck out eight to lift the Gators over the Panthers.

Dominic McGovern had a single and two RBIs for Green Valley.

Jeff Iddings had a double for Palo Verde.

Durango 18, Clark 1 — At Clark, Mike Sukeyasu homered and drove in five runs as the Trailblazers downed the Chargers.

The game was tied 1-1 before Durango scored 17 runs in the sixth inning.

Mike Stiles added three hits and four RBIs for the Trailblazers. Billy Richardson scattered three hits to get the win.

Manny Estrada provided the lone Clark run with a home run in the first inning.
