Tentative date set for Rousey-Holm rematch in Las Vegas

Ronda Rousey’s rematch with Holly Holm will be in Las Vegas and likely take place July 9.
UFC president Dana White said that plan is nearly official, but the date is considered tentative until both sides sign off on it. Holm’s promoter would like her to be scheduled for another fight before the rematch with Rousey.
UFC 200 is scheduled for July 9 and the rematch of Holm’s shocking upset of Rousey would be a blockbuster. The allure of that rematch could be all but lost should Holm lose in the interim, which is one factor White weighed in booking the rematch.
The 34-year-old Holm is 10-0 with seven knockouts.
Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, told the Los Angeles Times that White should be more concerned with Rousey’s recovery from a knockout. White called Rousey the fiercest competitor he has ever met.
“I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight,” Fresquez said. “She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but …”
