Salter, TCU top San Diego State

FORT WORTH, Texas — Henry Salter scored 18 points, including two free throws in the final seconds, as Texas Christian held off San Diego State 68-62 Saturday to break a four-game losing streak.
Salter’s jumper and layup keyed a 10-2 run that broke a 25-25 halftime tie and gave TCU (12-10, 4-5 Mountain West Conference) the lead for good.
But San Diego State (16-7, 6-3) pulled within 62-60 on Kelvin Davis’ 3-pointer with 40 seconds left. After the Horned Frogs hit two free throws, Davis scored on a layup to cut the deficit to 64-62.
Then Salter made two free throws, and Jason Ebie added two more with three seconds left.
Kevin Langford had 15 points and Ryan Wall 11 for TCU, which shot 54 percent from the field in the second half to 44 percent for the Aztecs.
Ryan Amoroso had 20 points to lead the Aztecs, and Davis added 15. Their leading scorer this season, Lorrenzo Wade, had eight points on 2-for-13 shooting from the field.
San Diego State was without starting forward Kyle Spain, who was suspended indefinitely Friday for an unspecified violation of team policy.
• Utah 67, Air Force 59 — At Air Force Academy, Colo., Johnnie Bryant scored 17 points to lead the Utes to a come-from-behind win.
With the victory, Utah (14-8, 5-4 MWC) completed a season sweep of the Falcons (12-10, 4-5), having defeated them
58-36 in Salt Lake City on Jan. 5.
Air Force had a 30-20 halftime lead behind the shooting of Andrew Henke, but the Utes began chipping away early in the second half.
“It was a pretty bad first half, and we were lucky to be down by only 10 points,” Bryant said. “We came out with a different focus, and I just found my rhythm in the second half.”
Utah tied the score at 37, with Bryant nailing a 3-pointer at the 13:10 mark. Luka Drca then hit a 3-pointer at 11:45 to give Utah a 40-37 lead, and Bryant scored from the beyond the arc to stretch the margin to 43-38.
Though Air Force tied the score at 48 behind a 3-pointer from Tim Anderson, Utah never relinquished the lead.
“We could have stopped them when they went on their run and didn’t,” said Anderson, who scored a team-best 16 points. “We needed to make some shots. Utah has a lot of weapons. In the second half, they drew up some plays and beat us.”
Bryant converted five 3-point shots en route to his game-high scoring performance.
Luke Nevill, who entered the game as the Utes’ leading scorer and rebounder, was dominant under the basket early but got into foul trouble near the end of the first half.
He picked up his third foul with 1:20 to go, being assessed a technical for protesting a call under the Utah basket. Nevill finished with 13 points and two rebounds. He didn’t pick up a fourth foul until late in the game.
Drca finished with 12 points. Henke, who was scoreless in the second half, Evan Washington and Anwar Johnson each scored 11 for the Falcons.
The Utes shot 45.8 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 72.2 percent from the line.

It also marked the first time that Wyoming has given up 100 points this season.
Brad Jones had 13 points to pace the Cowboys, who trailed 50-34 at halftime.
Giddens scored seven points in an 18-2 run midway through the first half that gave the Lobos a 29-9 lead.
A 13-0 run midway through the second half made the score 76-46, and New Mexico coasted from there.
