TCU earns home win over Utah
FORT WORTH, Texas — Brent Hackett scored 19 points and Kevin Langford 16 Wednesday to lead Texas Christian to a 67-61 victory over Utah.
TCU (14-12, 6-7 Mountain West Conference) outscored Utah 13-4 in the final 6:37 of the first half and took a 30-29 halftime lead on a 3-pointer by Hackett with seven seconds remaining.
TCU led throughout most of the second half before Luka Drca hit two free throws to give Utah a 52-51 lead with 6:30 remaining.
Alvardo Parker hit a layup with 5:36 left to put the Horned Frogs up by two at 54-52 before TCU pulled away.
Parker had 14 points off the bench for TCU.
Luke Nevill led Utah (15-11, 6-7) with 15 points. Tyler Kepkay scored 10.
Both teams shot 44 percent from the field.
• Wyoming 77, Colorado State 67 — At Fort Collins, Colo., Joseph Taylor scored a career-high 21 points as the Cowboys (11-16, 4-10) handed the Rams (6-21, 0-13) their 14th straight loss.
Colorado State’s losing streak matches an 88-year-old school record set when the Rams lost the final 12 games of the 1918-1919 season and the first two games of the 1919-20 season.
Tyson Johnson added 17 points for Wyoming. The Cowboys ended their three-game losing streak and won for just the second time in seven road games.
Willis Gardner led Colorado State with 16 points.
