Trial date set for UNLV’s Tre’Von Willis on misdemeanor charge

UNLV basketball player Tre’Von Willis has pleaded not guilty in Henderson Municipal Court to misdemeanor coercion stemming from allegations he choked his girlfriend last month.

A Sept. 22 trial date was set on the misdemeanor charge after the 22-year-old Willis submitted his plea through his attorney by fax on Monday.

Willis also is due for arraignment Aug. 3 in Henderson Justice Court on a felony domestic battery-strangulation charge stemming from his June 29 arrest on a complaint that he attacked 28-year-old Skye Sanders at her apartment in Henderson.

Willis is free on almost $19,000 bail. He told police he and Sanders had a verbal argument, not a physical altercation.

The 6-foot-4 Willis was the Runnin’ Rebels top scorer as a junior guard last season.
