Horton to Minnesota?
Former UNLV football coach Jeff Horton is in contention to become Minnesota’s offensive coordinator, according to the (Minneapolis) Star-Tribune.
Horton is the offensive line coach for the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, a demotion from special offensive assistant under previous coach Scott Linehan, who was fired during this season.
A move back to the Golden Gophers also would be a little bit of a homecoming for Horton, where he was a graduate assistant in 1984. He became the head coach at UNR in 1993 before moving south to UNLV for five seasons, where Horton went 13-44 that included a share of the 1994 Big West Conference championship and a Las Vegas Bowl victory over Central Michigan.
After being fired by the Rebels, Horton spent seven seasons as Wisconsin’s quarterbacks coach before joining the Rams for three years.
