Rebels football career may be over for player
UNLV senior defensive tackle Malo Taumua faces six to nine months of recovery after undergoing right knee surgery Wednesday, which means his Rebels football career might be over. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament in an April 14 spring practice.
Taumua, who used an injury redshirt in 2006 after hurting his knee, could redshirt and return in 2011. He also is approaching graduation, so he might not return at all.
A starter the previous three seasons, Taumua was dropped off the two-deep roster before the injury this spring.
