Lady Rebels dealt blowout by DePaul

The UNLV women’s basketball team had its run through the Duel in the Desert tournament halted in Monday night’s title game, losing to DePaul 82-48 at Cox Pavilion.

The Lady Rebels (6-6) trailed 37-24 at halftime, and the Blue Demons opened the second half with a 9-2 run to go up 46-26. UNLV got no closer than 19 the rest of the way, and Depaul (10-3) buried the Lady Rebels with a 20-0 run to take a 75-36 lead with four minutes left.

Erica Helms was the lone UNLV player in double figures, scoring 16 points. Anna Martin led Depaul with 18 points.

• NOTE — Kelli Thompson was named Mountain West Conference women’s Player of the Week after helping UNLV reach Monday’s title game. Johnson scored 22 points in a victory over Virginia Commonwealth and 16 in a win over Hawaii.
