Van Hoof eliminated in third at WSOP Main Event

Martin Jacobson of Sweden and Norway’s Felix Stephensen will go heads-up Tuesday night for the World Series of Poker Main Event title and $10 million first prize.

Jacobson eliminated Jorryt Van Hoof of Eindhoven, Netherlands, a little after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Van Hoof entered the “November Nine” final table with the chip lead and also was the leader when three-handed play began with 89.625 million in tournament chips. But the Dutchman lost more than half his stack in the first three hours and was sent to the rail holding ace-five against Jacobson’s ace-10.

The flop of 5-2-10 hit both players, but the final two cards were queen, which didn’t improve Van Hoof’s hand.

Van Hoof, a professional poker player, takes home $3,807,753.
