Acura of Las Vegas GM grew up in car business

Tim Donnelly remembers working as a lot attendant at the age of 5 at Fletcher Jones Chevrolet on Decatur Boulevard.
Now the general manager of Acura of Las Vegas, the 41-year-old Donnelly has a rich history in the car business especially considering that his dad, Dick, was the general manager of the dealership founded by Fletcher Jones.
“That was my job on Saturdays,” recalled Donnelly with a smile. “I even had a uniform and used to help guys wash cars.”
In his current position with the dealership at 7000 W. Sahara Ave., Donnelly could not imagine doing anything else.
“I enjoy selling cars and enjoy taking care of customers,” said Donnelly, whose current store is the No. 1 Acura store in Nevada. “We pride ourselves on customer service. We take care of our customers at all cost.
“I always tell people that when you’re in this business, you are helping people realize a dream. Right now, the Acura is truly better than any car I have ever seen because the vehicle has Five Star Crash Test ratings in every line of cars Acura makes, superior quality computer systems, along with the overall quality of craftsmanship. In fact, I don’t know a better car for the dollar than the Acura TL.”
Donnelly has been in management since 1997. Prior to entering management, he sold for a Lincoln Mercury dealership in Boise, Idaho, primarily because he wanted to prove himself in another market.
“My dad taught me that when you treat your employees correctly, you will be repaid tenfold,” said Donnelly. “I have worked in every department in a dealership ranging from the business office to parts and service, so I understand what people in this business face. The Idaho experience taught me that with hard work I could be successful in the automotive industry especially considering that selling cars during the winter in Idaho is not easy.”
When he’s not selling vehicles or running a dealership, Donnelly is heavily involved in various forms of auto racing.
“Auto racing and the automobile business go together well,” Donnelly said. “I attend and watch everything from auto racing to IndyCar and the rest.”
Acura of Las Vegas is part of the Super Store Auto Group that has five dealerships in Las Vegas and 26 throughout the nation.
