Child’s body found in woman’s freezer
A San Diego County woman was arrested on suspicion of murder after police found a child body’s hidden in her freezer and a man’s body elsewhere in her home.
Elaina Rae Welch, 32, of the Barona Indian Reservation, was booked into jail on two counts of murder after authorities discovered her 3-year-old son stuffed inside a freezer underneath frozen food items, KSWB reports.
Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire.
Prior to the incident, “(Barona authorities) talked to the woman’s 32-year-old boyfriend outside the home,” latimes.com reports. “When the authorities started to leave, the boyfriend went back into the home and gunshots were heard.”
The 32-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and wrist.
Tribal Enforcement responded to the home, but called for backup from the Sheriff’s Department and SWAT.
The woman reportedly exited the home wielding a shotgun, but dropped the weapon when ordered to do so by police.
The names and ages of the victims have not yet been released.
