Custom baked goods take center stage at Henderson’s Showboy
Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it, too.
Mixing their passion for baked goods and the Las Vegas limelight, business owners Stephen Lowry and Jared Sullivan opened Showboy Bakeshop, a chic bakery at 2591 Anthem Village Drive that specializes in custom cakes and gourmet cupcakes, in March 2013.
Originally from London, Lowry moved to the valley more than a decade ago to pursue a career in entertainment. He performed in “Frank Marino’s Divas,” “Tony N Tina’s Wedding,” “Show in the Sky” and more before meeting Sullivan, who helped with stage management at Dick Foster Productions. The duo set off on the sweet business venture, and within weeks of opening, the bakery was tapped to compete on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars.”
With such a strong stage presence, it’s only fitting to have witty show biz product names. Cupcakes cost $3 each or $33 per dozen and include the Banana Bell Bundy (banana cake topped with cinnamon roll buttercream), Bombshell (strawberry cake paired with champagne buttercream) and Lemon Minelli (vanilla cake with lemon filling topped with lemon cream cheese frosting). Lowry and Sullivan understand “less is sometimes more” and offer all cupcakes minus the frosting for $2 each.
Cakes start at $35 and include traditional flavors, along with strawberry lemon, blue raspberry, graham cracker, and pumpkin. Buttercream frostings range from cherry cola to maple bacon, while cream cheese frostings include traditional, blueberry, orange, and strawberry.
In addition, the bakeshop also serves cookies ($2.25 each), cake pops ($1.50 each), truffles ($1.50 each) and more. Vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free options are available upon request.
