Desert Toyota event raises money for wild horses
Several wild horses will live freely in a safe environment thanks to a Desert Toyota-sponsored golf outing held on June 18 at Angel Park Golf Club.
The event raised money for Freedom for Wild Horses, a Las Vegas-based apparel line whose proceeds support the Return to Freedom American Wild Horse Santuary in Lompoc, Calif. The funds will go toward supplies, feed, medical care and other necessities at the sanctuary, a nonprofit that aims to protect the freedom and natural lifestyle of America’s wild horses.
“Everything went really well,” Rhonda Dudoit, co-owner of Freedom for Wild Horses, said. “We raised $1,582 for the sanctuary after all was said and done. We are very happy with that.”
Eighteen golf teams competed for a chance to win cash prizes and a Freedom for Wild Horses-customized 2009 Toyota Tundra pickup truck for a hole-in-one. No one won the Tundra, but the truck was purchased after the event.
Participants also enjoyed door prizes and a raffle drawing that included art donated by local artists including Wyland and Michael Godard.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported us,” said Freedom for Wild Horses co-owner Carol Arieno. “And we hope to have an even bigger and better event next year.”
