Dining Pick of the Week: Mondale Pine Restaurant

PICK OF THE WEEK:

MONDALE PINE RESTAURANT

Aliante Golf Club, 3100 W. Elkhorn Road, 702-399-4888

Mondale Pines do well in the Southwest desert, and they’re in full display at the Aliante Golf Club. The beautiful trees compete for attention with the restaurant of the same name, where executive chef Ian Phinney serves breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., featuring biscuits and gravy with two eggs, buttermilk pancakes, three-egg veggie omelet, breakfast burrito on chipotle tortilla and the popular Day Breaker, where two eggs are paired with apple wood smoked bacon or pork sausage patty, breakfast potatoes and toast. Around noon, the chef turns his attention to sandwiches, including half-pound Black Angus hamburgers, Philly cheese on toasted hoagie, Reuben on marble rye, fried cod with tarter sauce and coleslaw, club with turkey and bacon and the house Deli with bacon, ham or tuna layered with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Among the specialty entrees are chicken quesadilla, fish tacos and bahn mi, which is slow-roasted pork, sweet and sour pickled cucumbers, carrots, onions and jalapenos on a toasted French roll. There are salads (Aliante Caesar, Bistro Chef), soups and appetizers, including chicken wings and tenders with fries and Aliante Nachos (add ground beef or Southwest seasoned chicken). Sandwiches start at $7.50, and breakfast begins at $5. Mondale Pine Restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. — Jack Bulavsky
