Family catches over 1,000 pound gator, breaks record

THOMASTON, Alabama — An Alabama hunting family set a state record by catching a 15 foot, 1,011.5 pound alligator, and a world record win could be imminent.

The current record holder dates back to June 2014 in Texas, weighing in at 880 pounds, but this gator is slightly bigger — give or take a few hundred pounds.

According to al.com, this animal is “Alabama’s only dangerous-game species that can legally be hunted.”
