Foster home suspended after 6-year-old’s death

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Human Services has temporarily suspended the license of a Brooklyn Park foster home where a 6-year-old girl died.

Kendria Johnson was found unresponsive in the home Saturday night with a jump rope wrapped around her neck.

The Star Tribune reports the state agency decided the foster mother can’t ensure the safety of the children she has under her care.

No other children remain in the house. The girl’s 1-year-old brother also had been living there.

The foster mother can appeal the decision.

Police said again Wednesday that the case is not being treated as a homicide, and that they continue to investigate it.
