Home buyers ‘test out’ Mountain Falls

James and Rebecca Oscarson bought a home in the Mountain Falls master-planned golf-course community in Pahrump after renting a home there for a year to “try out” the area.

They purchased a home in the same neighborhood where they had been renting.

“We rented a home in the Tramonto neighborhood in Mountain Falls for a year to see how we liked it,” said James Oscarson, who retired from the pharmaceutical business in the Las Vegas Valley and moved from a home sitting on 21/2 acres in Logandale to Pahrump after his wife accepted a position with the power company.

“While renting, we learned that it is so easy to live here. There are many amenities, and it is a beautiful community. We decided that we wanted to call Mountain Falls home,” he said. “We got a really good deal on our house considering the upgrades, the size of the lot and our access to community amenities. There is no place in Vegas where you can buy into a golf-course community with these amenities at this price range.”

Residents-only amenities include a clubhouse, where one of their four grown children works. The facility features a fitness center, lounge area with pool table and big-screen television and a multipurpose room.

The Oscarsons said that they look forward to taking their three grandchildren to the outdoor aquatic center, which features a family pool and interactive splash-and-spray area for families, in addition to a 25-yard lap pool and spa for adults.

Residents and nonresidents may dine at the nearby Mountain Falls Grill Room. It overlooks an 18-hole golf course, where annual, six-month, three-month and monthly golf club memberships are offered to residents at a discounted rate, which include unlimited golf cart and greens fees. Golf memberships to nonresidents and daily greens fees are also available.

The couple purchased Plan Four at the single-story Tramonto neighborhood, where homes are priced from the mid-$200,000s. Rebecca Oscarson said one of the highlights of their 2,445-square-foot home was its upgraded energy-efficient features.

“I really liked the floor plan and the flow of the home with a master suite on the opposite side of the home from two bedrooms, and a powder room located near the family room,” Rebecca Oscarson said. “I was really impressed with the energy-efficient features of this home like the low-e windows, the radiant barriers. These are upgrades that are personally very important to me since I work for the electric company and with energy-efficient products.”

The couple selected room configurations, flooring materials and countertop surfaces.

To visit Mountain Falls from Las Vegas, travel 45 miles west on Highway 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right.

Sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Monday when model homes open at noon. For more information, visit mountainfalls.com or call 866-468-3255.
