‘I am not interested in photo ops’

Brother, did the president step in it this evening or what?

At a press conference in Texas, the president gathered reporters ostensibly to talk about the crisis on our Mexican border and to explain just why he refuses to go to the site of the crisis and see for himself.

The president explained: “I am not interested in photo ops.”

Photo ops? First, no one suggested he go to the border for a photo op. What people — even people in his own party — wanted him to do was go to visit some of the sites in which we are warehousing hundreds of thousands of children who have crossed the border illegally and get some info the problem first hand.

But second, what in the world was the president thinking when he said he’s not interested in photo ops.

Of course he is interested in photo ops. He spends hours each week in photo ops — with sports figures, with heads of state, with kids, with donors, inside Rosa Parks bus, with soldiers, playing pool with the governor of Colorado, with the Easter Bunny, and just yesterday he chatted with students wearing horses heads.

C’mon, man.

“I am not interested in photo ops”?

My arse.
