Monterey has residents seeing green
The condominium community of Monterey at the Las Vegas Country Club is shaded by expanses of mature pine, olive and cottonwood trees.
Located a couple blocks off the Las Vegas Strip at Karen Avenue, Monterey recently was honored by the Southern Nevada Water Authority as a 2007 Landscape Award winner in the Multi-Family Design category.
“We have the unusual good fortune of developing a community covered with mature trees,” said Dave Moon, the developer. “When designing Monterey’s current landscape plan, it was important that great care be given to preserving the irreplaceable beauty of the existing grounds. The lush greenery combined with a unique home design distinguishes our condominium homes from any other. We are honored by this prestigious award.”
The Landscape Awards program was started to prove that water-efficient landscapes can be lush, as well as colorful, according to SNWA conservation programs coordinator Jeff Meckley.
Monterey and the other award recipients scored highly in the four award categories of aesthetics, proficiency of irrigation, plant selection and mulch material. Landscape and irrigation professionals, horticulturists and gardening experts comprise the SNWA’s judging panel.
Monterey has 24-hour guard gated access with uniformed patrol. Prices start in the $190,000s. For a limited time, home buyers may also opt for a $10,000 flexible incentive on floor plans not included in their furniture package incentive program, Moon said.
To visit, take Interstate 15 and exit Sahara Avenue east, turn right on Paradise Road and left on Karen Avenue. Enter the community through the Las Vegas Country Club gate on Karen Avenue, located between Paradise Road and Maryland Parkway. The sales center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
