More Obama-thumping from Goodman
Mayor Oscar Goodman isn’t shy about bashing President Obama for his remarks about Las Vegas. Although Goodman doesn’t believe Obama’s comment last year admonishing corporations that take federal bailout funds not to use the money to send employees on party junkets was chiefly responsible for the substantial rise in convention cancellations — the recession probably had a lot more to do with that — he did say each negative comment hurts.
"When he characterized Las Vegas as a place of excess, it certainly put a pall over our ability to attract legitimate businesses here for convention purposes," Goodman said Wednesday.
Whatever happened to "All publicity is good publicity” and “as long as they spell our name right" as public relations credos?
In retrospect, Goodman’s reaction seems pretty calm. At least he didn’t say he’s like to cut off Obama’s thumbs.
