MOVIES: Special Screenings — Opera and ballet rave on at Rave Town Square

  The performing arts are back in season and back on the big screen at Rave Motion Pictures’ Town Square multiplex with new seasons featuring opera and ballet presented in a high-definition digital format.
  A free screening of director Franco Zeffirelli’s production of Verdi’s "Aida," from Milan’s renowned La Scala, kicks off the Opera in Cinema series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.
  The season continues with European opera and ballet performances, plus special presentations, including the Tchaikovsky ballets "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker," performed by the Mariinsky (formerly Kirov) Ballet of St. Petersburg, Russia.
  Except for the free "Aida" performance, tickets are $20.
  The full season schedule: Puccini’s "La Boheme"(pictured)  — 7 p.m. Sept. 24, 1 p.m. Sept. 27; Bellini’s "I Puritani" performed by Teatro Communale in Bologna, Italy — 7 p.m. Oct. 15 and 1 p.m. Oct. 18; Tchaikovsky’s "Swan Lake," performed by the Mariinsky Ballet of St. Petersburg, Russia — 7 p.m. Oct. 29, 1 p.m. Nov. 1; Tchaikovsly’s "Eugene Onegin," performed by the Bolshoi Opera at L’Opera de Paris, France — 7 p.m. Nov. 12, 1 p.m. Nov. 15; Tchaikovsky’s "The Nutcracker," performed by the Mariinsky Ballet, 7 p.m. Nov. 19, 1 p.m. Nov. 22; Bizet’s "Carmen," live from Milan’s La Scala, Dec. 7 (time to be determined); Mozart’s "Cosi Fan Tutte" from Austria’s Salzburg Festival, 7 p.m. Dec. 17, 1 p.m. Dec. 27; Verdi’s "Il Trovatore," live from Barcelona’s Gran Theatre de Liceu, Dec. 22 (time to be determined).
