New Jersey boy hit, killed by police cruiser on way to sleepover

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A southern New Jersey prosecutor is investigating an accident in which a police cruiser struck and killed a 10-year-old boy walking to a friend’s house for a sleepover.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday for the boy, Matthew McCloskey. Officials say he was struck along a busy road in Franklin Township around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office says the vehicle being driven by Patrolman Nicholas Locilento was heading to a call and that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
