Off-road racing family trusts RV from Findlay

For many enthusiasts, the sport of off-road racing goes hand in hand with the recreational vehicle business. An off-road racing event typically includes a sea of motor homes and toy haulers.
Count third-generation Nevadan Kenny Freeman among those who rely on a motor home from Findlay RV, 4530 Boulder Highway.
Freeman’s family has raced off-road for more than four decades. The family has lost count of the motor homes, trailers and toy haulers it has taken to off-road events across the country.
“We cannot imagine being without our motor home,” said Freeman, who, when not racing for the Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts, serves as a race director for the 43-year-old club.
Freeman and his wife, Kerry, bought a 40-foot 2006 Winnebago Vectra motor home in 2007. Among the countless long trips was one to Crandon, Wis., about 100 miles west of Green Bay, three years ago for the annual World Championships off-road event.
“We had an absolute blast seeing all the scenery,” said Kenny Freeman, whose family has owned Freeman Carpet Service since 1960. “It’s a different world in Wisconsin, and especially at Crandon, where some of the world’s top off-road racers compete twice a year.”
Going in a motor home is the only way to see the country, he added. “Oh believe me, it’s the way to go. We pull off the road or into an RV park every few hundred miles and chill out.”
The RV world also produces lifelong friendships, he said.
“We have made so many friends during trips in our RV,” Freeman said. “Every stop produces another new friendship, and you will never forget those people over the years. It’s simply a very happy and healthy lifestyle that you will not find in another other way of travel.”
The Freemans had praise for Findlay RV. One of Freeman’s first recreational vehicles was a 1972 Explorer that he bought from a family friend, who bought the RV from Findlay Automotive Group Chairman Cliff Findlay.
“When we went shopping for our next RV, we knew that, like us, the Findlays have been in Southern Nevada for decades,” he said. “That stability is important, especially when you’re spending that kind of money. We were treated well and we have told everyone we know that we’re happy with Findlay RV.”
