Oops: make that one Chachas endorsement from Senate race dropout

U.S. Senate candidate John Chachas spoke too soon.

The Wall Street banker announced Monday that he had won endorsements from two of his Republican foes who dropped out of the primary to back him.

Not so fast.

It turns out TV producer Gary Bernstein was on board to back Chachas but professional poker player Brian Nadell hadn’t yet signed off on the dropout idea.

The Chachas campaign sent out a correction late Monday night confirming that only Berstein had endorsed Chachas for sure.

How did the mix-up happen?

Chachas talked to Bernstein who told him he and Nadell would drop out and endorse the investment banker who’s far behind the leading GOP contenders who want to take on Democrat Harry Reid in the fall. But Chachas never confirmed it with Nadell directly.

Oops.

So what will Nadell do – hold ’em or fold ’em?

At this point Chachas doesn’t know for sure, says his campaign coordinator Randi Thompson.

"Mr. Bernstein indicated this evening that Mr. Nadell’s plans are not certain at this point," Thompson wrote in an email.
