Range Rover Evoque turns the competition green with envy

The new Range Rover Evoque, Motor Trend’s 2012 SUV of the year, is more than just the most-decorated sport utility vehicle in the world. It’s also the greenest. As part of its comprehensive effort to minimize ecological impact, Land Rover outfitted the Evoque with more sustainable materials than any other vehicle in its history.
The Evoque has 35 pounds of recycled plastic material spread across the headliner, center console, wheel arch liners, air cleaner, cooling fan and shroud, air ducting, side under trays, parcel shelf, engine cover and subwoofer box. The high-quality Morzine trim fabric used on the headlining and pillars is produced entirely from recycled polyester sourced from bottles and fibers.
The recycled content is the equivalent of nearly 1,000 plastic bottles per vehicle, and the metal interior trim on the center console and dashboard is produced from 95 percent recycled aluminum.
High-quality natural and renewable leather, cotton and rubber are also used extensively throughout, amounting to 46 pounds of material in every Evoque. Leather is used on the seats, instrument panel and door casings, and natural materials are used in the carpets and body insulation.
