Reno struggles with a new motto
Ray Hagar of the Reno Gazette-Journal offers an entertaining piece on the subject of city slogans. It seems Reno’s bewildering “A Little West of Center” program left Mayor Bob Cashell cold – and a little angry.
It has been canned at a cost of $100,000.
Here’s a better idea. Everyone who knows the name “Reno” identifies it with “The Biggest Little City in the World.”
“Still the Biggest” works better than “A Little West of Center.” It allows you to play off the traditional with a reminder of what’s happening now.
So that settles it. “Still the Biggest” it is. Just don’t forget to send my check.
