SHOOTING STARS EXTRA: MTV’s ‘Real World’ sets Wednesday casting call

MTV’s "Real World" may have moved out of the Hard Rock Hotel, but the show’s producers haven’t quite moved on.

That’s because casting officials from Bunim/Murray Productions, creators of the MTV reality series, will be back at the Hard Rock Wednesday, March 30, conducting an open casting call for next season’s "Real World."

The casting session will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hard Rock’s Beach Club.

Applicants older than 18 — who look like they’re between the ages of 18 and 24 — should bring a photo ID and a recent photo of themselves, which will not be returned.

"We look for characters from real life; people with strong personalities who are unafraid to speak their minds," according to executive producer Jonathan Murray.

For the show’s upcoming season, casting directors will be on the lookout for applicants "who have challenges living an everyday life that most take for granted, struggling with weight issues, affected by a natural disaster, products of home or alternative schooling, followers of unrecognized or nonmainstream belief systems, elite athletes, recent graduates affected by the economic downturn, those involved with goth, emo or punk subculture, members of a pro-abstinence organization, those who are recently single due to a tragedy, someone who has recently gotten out of the foster care system, and individuals who want to bring the spotlight of ‘The Real World’ to a cause, condition or social issue they care deeply about or are personally affected by," according to the casting announcement. "We are also particularly interested in cast members who have had to work hard to support themselves and move ahead in their lives."

Rest assured, though, that "these qualities are not a requirement. As always, ‘The Real World’ welcomes anyone with a great personality and a willingness to share their life with the world," the announcement states. "Most of all, we are looking for surprising and unusual life stories that have yet to be told on television."

If you can’t make it to Wednesday’s open call, applications are still being accepted via email.
