State elections official resigns
Matt Griffin, Deputy Secretary of State for Elections, on Thursday announced he will resign his post to return to a private law practice.
Secretary of State Ross Miller made the announcement about the pending departure of Griffin, who oversaw two of the most widely watched elections in the country in 2008 and 2010.
"Matt has skillfully managed the elections division with great energy and enthusiasm for the last four years," Miller said in a written statement.
Among Griffin’s accomplishments Miller listed were oversight of an investigation of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, that resulted in two convictions for voter registration fraud, creation of the Election Command Center and Election Integrity Task Force and creating an online voter registration system that was used in the 2010 elections.
Griffin will join Capitol Company, a Carson City law firm where his brother, John is a partner, Miller stated.
