Summerlin offers holiday celebrations
With the holidays upon us, many Summerlin houses of worship are planning seasonal celebrations, including choir performances, Christmas pageants and special services.
Valley residents are invited to attend the following choir performances:
Dec. 9 – Mountain View Presbyterian’s children’s choir at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., and Temple Sinai (formerly Temple Beth Am) at 10:15 a.m.
Dec. 16 – Mountain View Presbyterian at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., St. Andrew Lutheran Church at 4 p.m., and Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church at 7 p.m.
Dec. 24 – Desert Spring United Methodist Church children’s cantata at 5 p.m.
Special holiday services are planned by a number of Summerlin houses of worship on Sunday, Dec. 23, Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day, including candle-lighting services at Faith Community Lutheran Church, St. Andrew Lutheran Church and The Summerlin Evangelical Lutheran Church.
“The holidays are a time for friends and family to gather at their respective houses of worship to celebrate the season. We’re proud of the diversity of faiths represented by the community’s growing list of houses of worship, and we’re grateful so many of these gatherings are happening in our community,” said Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. “Summerlin is a great place to enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.”
More than a dozen houses of worship representing 10 faiths are currently located in the master-planned community of Summerlin, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Desert Spring United Methodist Church, Faith Community Lutheran Church, Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, Hindu Temple and Cultural Center – Hindu Society of Nevada, Mountain View Presbyterian, St. Andrew Lutheran, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, The Summerlin Evangelical Lutheran Church (Wisconsin synod), Sun City Community Church, Temple Sinai and Temple Beth Sholom – conservative Judaism.
