Wiley drops U.S. Senate bid, blames radio
Former radio host Mike Wiley dropped his Republican primary campaign to challenge Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Wiley was among several candidates in the race with strident conservative views but little fund raising and no realistic chance to win the nomination.
In a letter announcing his campaign would end, Wiley blamed Nevada radio hosts for his failure to gain traction with the electorate.
"My biggest mistake was thinking that the alleged ‘Conservative’ Radio Talk Show Hosts in Las Vegas and Reno would give everyone running an equal opportunity to meet the listeners and answer questions. I was wrong and many good conservative candidates could not get their message out because the local talk show hosts were playing G-d with the radio waves," Wiley wrote.
Leading candidates in the primary are businessman Danny Tarkanian, former GOP state chairwoman Sue Lowden and former Nevada Assemblywoman Sharron Angle.
