Aldi sets opening date for first 2 Las Vegas Valley stores

An opening date has been set for two of the three Aldi locations coming to the Las Vegas Valley.
The German grocer will be celebrating the grand opening and ribbon-cutting at 9 a.m. April 24 for its Henderson and North Las Vegas stores. Located at 621 Marks St. and 2106 W. Craig Road, both locations will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. going forward.
Another location at 7150 S. Rainbow Blvd. is still underway, with plans to open in May.
“At our new Las Vegas-area ALDI stores, shoppers will find that every decision we make, from our product selection to store layout, is to provide our customers with the best products at the lowest possible prices of any national grocer,” said Shawn Eddy, regional vice president for Aldi. “Our customers can save up to 36 percent on an average household’s shopping list. As shoppers look for better ways to stretch their dollar, ALDI is providing the Las Vegas area with easier access to quality groceries at affordable prices.”
At both locations, the first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with some Aldi-exclusive products, a quarter-sized Aldi poker chip that can be used to unlock the carts and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket giveaway program. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a $500 Aldi gift card through opening weekend.
On grand opening day at the Henderson store, shoppers will have a chance to win access to Aldi’s High Savers Room from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the room, shoppers will taste-test Aldi private label brands, have a chance to receive free Vegas-themed Aldi merchandise and more.
The grocer announced in March 2024 plans to add 800 stores across the United States by the end of 2028, with a specific mention of Las Vegas. Aldi adding 800 stores over the next five years would give the chain more than 3,200 locations in the U.S.
The grocery chain is known for keeping its costs down by selling mostly private-label brands and keeping employee counts down by not bagging groceries and encouraging customers to return their carts themselves by requiring a 25-cent deposit to check one out.
