Rare early June storm drops some showers on Las Vegas Valley — PHOTOS

Yes, Las Vegas, it is raining in early June, one of the driest months of the year.
A rare storm left its mark on the valley Tuesday, dumping rain on many areas, including the Strip and downtown Las Vegas.
Other areas seeing showers include Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin and Centennial Hills.
The Spring Mountains also saw some heavy rain and was affected by severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings.
Heavy rain and light hail was seen at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, just northwest of downtown, about 3:15 p.m.

Regional report
— Death Valley National Park and the Mojave National Preserve in California were under flash flood warnings Tuesday night.
— Heavy rain and small hail was reported by the California Highway Patrol near Mountain Pass on Interstate 15 early Tuesday afternoon.
— Areas near Grapevine Springs, Indian Springs and Corn Creek in Clark County saw about an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday rain
More afternoon showers are expected for the valley Wednesday, with a high of 94. The chance of rain is 40 percent. A flood watch is in effect for the valley until 11 p.m., the NWS said.
Wet May
Like this month, the month of May started out on a wet note. And May is normally one of the driest months of the year in the valley.
Thanks to a spring storm during the first week of the month, May 2025 became the wettest May on record for the valley. Harry Reid International Airport recorded 1.44 inches of rain, 1.37 inches above normal.
By the end of the month, the valley was breaking heat records, reaching 105 degrees on May 31 during a two-day “extreme heat” event. It was the hottest day of the month.
