It’s 100! Las Vegas hits century mark on eve of Memorial Day weekend

Las Vegas hit 100 degrees Thursday for the first time in 2025, according to the National Weather Service.
In a post on X, the agency said the century mark was reached at 3:21 p.m. at Harry Reid International Airport.
The average date of hitting 100 is May 24. Last year, the valley hit 100 on May 17. The earliest Las Vegas has hit 100 was May 1, 1947. The latest was June 30, 2023.
Reaching the century mark is an unofficial start to the summer heat in the valley.
The big heat won’t last through the weekend, though. Expect clear skies and a kick of winds on Friday, with a high near 96 and a low around 67.
Temperatures will continue to dip this weekend amid breezy conditions, with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s.
In addition, a lake wind advisory is in effect for Lakes Mead and Mohave, where gusty winds will result in choppy waves Friday afternoon and early evening.
Up and down in May
Las Vegas has been on a weather roller coaster this month. Thanks to a spring storm in the first week of the month, May 2025 became the wettest May on record for the valley.
Then the temperatures soared. On May 11, parts of the valley saw 99 degrees, the hottest day of 2025. Then the temperatures dipped again. Strong winds and a few showers invaded the region, affecting the Electric Daisy Carnival last weekend.
