Readers divided on flavored syrup

In regard to coffee-flavored syrup — being sought by reader Martha Flynn — it seems there are a couple of schools of thought.

At 6:20 on a recent weekday morning, Keith Sturm and Ron Strauch stopped for coffee. For Sturm, it would be a mix of cappuccino and Fusion Energy Coffee, which is infused with herbal extracts said to kick-start the day. For Strauch, it would be pure energy coffee.

Taxpayers can find free filing help this Saturday

The Internal Revenue Service and two community groups will help Southern Nevadans with tax preparation on Saturday. To qualify for assistance, taxpayers generally must earn $42,000 or less yearly.

McCarran to test full-body scanners

Federal security officials are using McCarran International Airport to test whether it would make sense to replace airport metal detectors throughout the nation with whole-body image scanners, devices that peer through travelers’ clothing to ensure they aren’t carrying weapons.

One of Southern Nevada’s most active Small Business Administration lenders says SBA loan program enhancements that the White House announced will help turn on the spigots at banks and increase credit availability here.

Wynn Resorts said Tuesday it hopes to raise $175 million through its stock offering of up to 9.6 million shares the company announced late Monday.

$23.1 billion debt hanging over Harrah’s

Harrah’s Entertainment may not be able to generate enough cash flow or secure additional loans to service its $23.1 billion debt, the company said Tuesday in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
