WASHINGTON — Sen. John Ensign this afternoon challenged whether Timothy Geithner should keep his job at Treasury Secretary in light of new questions of when the Obama administration knew of bonuses being paid to executives at bailed out insurance giant AIG.
You didn’t really think conservative activist Chuck Muth could resist jousting with a critic, did you? Well, he hasn’t. After being taken to task for GOP activist Nathan Taylor in yesterday’s blog, Muth jogged his own memory of their political relationship.
Frothy Democrats remain fully outraged — outraged, I tell you! — at the AIG bonuses. But it’s hard to sympathize when you know that Sen. Chris Dodd slipped into the “stimulus” bill language that authorized the bonuses. Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi rushed to enact the bill without reading it. These also are the bonuses that the Obama administration, with zero credibility, says it never saw coming.
