NV Energy wins grant to develop ‘smart-grid’ technology

Local power utility NV Energy has won a $138 million grant it applied for to begin developing “smart-grid” technology in Nevada. … Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced the grant this morning. The funds will come through the Department of Energy as part of the stimulus funds set aside in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
NV Energy will match the grant with an additional $160 million.
